🌿 Design Your Waste: Online Blog Platform
In early 2018, I was hired by APLM, an environmental NGO focused on protecting natural resources and raising awareness about sustainable living. Their goal was to build a digital platform to support their initiative: Design Your Waste, part of a broader Erasmus+ program.
💡 The Mission
The blog was envisioned as a hub for sharing educational content, activity recaps, and community-driven stories to encourage better waste management and ecological practices. My task was to bring this vision to life with a site that was:
- Clean, accessible, and multilingual
- Easy to update with ongoing event posts
- Engaging for young audiences across Europe
🛠️ What I Did
- Designed and developed a responsive blog platform from scratch.
- Integrated visual storytelling elements to highlight impact events.
- Ensured the website aligned with Erasmus+ program branding and accessibility standards.
- Enabled multi-language support for broader reach.
- Focused on ease of use for non-technical staff to update content.
📈 What I Learned
- Designing for cause-driven projects requires empathy and flexibility.
- Working with NGOs sharpens your ability to translate ideas into simple, effective digital tools.
- Building awareness platforms means prioritizing clarity, performance, and trust.
🌍 Final Thoughts
It was incredibly fulfilling to contribute to an initiative focused on education and sustainability. Technology has the power to elevate grassroots missions, and this project reminded me just how impactful a well-designed platform can be — especially when backed by passionate people working to create real change.
